Adult CO-ED Volleyball

The Laurens Family YMCA announces Adult CO-ED Volleyball League sponsored by Wattsville Drugs. Deadline to register is Wednesday, February 20th. A meeting of anyone interested in participating will be held Monday, February 18th at 7:30 pm at the YMCA. Practices will begin Sunday, February 24th at 2:30 pm and will be held on Sundays and Tuesdays. Games will be played on Sunday afternoons and Tuesday evenings beginning Tuesday, March 11th. The number of games will be determined by the number of teams registered. Schedules will be given out by March 4th. If we have enough interest there will be two divisions offered this year, with the “RED” division for the more competitive groups, and the “BLUE” division for the recreational groups. Cost for the league is $35.00 for YMCA members and $50.00 for non-members, which will include a t-shirt. Participants must be age 16 and above. Team rosters (minimum of 6 and maximum of 8) must be submitted by February 22nd and no player can be on more than one roster. For more information call: (864) 984-2621.

The Laurens Family YMCA announces Gymnastics Classes Sponsored by Piedmont Rural Telephone Cooperative (PRTC) to include tumbling and acrobatics beginning Monday, February 11th, 2008. New this year - the program will be held year round. The program will run in six-week sessions beginning February 11th. The classes will be held every Monday except for the following: Spring Break, Christmas Break, bad weather, or if the YMCA is closed. Registration must be received one week prior to the first class of each session. A $10.00 late fee will be assessed for anyone registering on the first class day of a session. Cost for the program: YMCA member $32.00 per six-week session, Non-member $42.00 per six-week session. A $5.00 discount will be offered to siblings enrolled in the program.

The Laurens Family YMCA announces Tee-Ball for ages 3 - 6 sponsored by Laurens Dixie Youth. Ages 5 - 6 will also include some coach pitch to players. Registrations are being taken now with the deadline to register March 26th. A $10.00 late fee will be added for registrations after the deadline. You may register at the Laurens YMCA, Gray Court YMCA and at Collyar Park (Dixie Youth Fields). If applying for financial assistance / scholarship you must do so by March 15th and must be done at the YMCA. **If there is a minimum of 10 kids registering for the same age group from communities like Gray Court or Waterloo, and has someone willing to coach (and has been approved by the YMCA), the YMCA will make arrangements for them to practice on a field in their community and only travel to Laurens for games. Skill evaluations will be held at Collyar Park (Dixie Youth Fields) on Friday, March 28th at 6:00 pm for all ages. Practices will begin Saturday, March 29th at 9:00 am for all ages and will be held at Dixie Youth Fields. Games will begin Friday April 18th and schedules will be given out by April 4th. Practices and games will be held on Tuesdays and Fridays and some Saturdays. No games or practices will be held the week of Spring Break, April 7th - 11th. The season will end with the last scheduled games on May 13th. Cost for the league: $35.00 for everyone and fee includes T-shirt, pants, and baseball cap. The Laurens Family YMCA announces the 2008 Youth Spring Soccer League for boys and girls ages: 3 - 16 sponsored by Smith Chevrolet Cadillac. The cost is $42.00 for YMCA members and $56.00 for non-members. A $5.00 discount for siblings registering for the same program is available. Registration fee includes t-shirt, shorts, and socks.
The deadline to register is February 28th. An additional fee of $10.00 for registrations after deadline.
*** The YMCA would like to offer the opportunity for anyone ages: 9 - 12 to play other teams outside of the YMCA league. This would be based on skill level, interest, and the commitment from parents to travel. The YMCA staff would like to begin offering this each season beginning fall of 2008 or Spring of 2009. Summer clinics and pick-up games will be conducted by local Soccer coaches for this group. If you are interested in this option please call Donna at (864) 984-2621.
Age groups this season will be U16, U12, U10, U8, (U means under that age), ex. U8 means anyone under 8 can play in that league. Players will be placed in age groups according to age, skill level, and size. We will continue to offer age groups for ages: 3 - 4 and possibly ages: 5 - 6. According to registration numbers some age groups may be combined in order to have a league.
Skill evaluations will be held at Laurens Middle School (LMS) Football Field on the following days and times: * In order for the teams to be evenly matched, you must attend the following times for your age group to be placed on a team.

* Mandatory Coaches meeting for anyone interested in coaching will be held at the YMCA Sunday, March 2nd at 2:30 pm.
Practices will be held at the Laurens Middle School (LMS) Football Field and possibly at the First Baptist Church Baseball Field beginning Tuesday, March 4th at 5:45 pm for ages: 3 - 8 and for ages: 9 - 16 at 6:30 pm. * Practices and games will be held on Monday’s, Tuesday’s, and / or Thursday’s, and some Saturday’s at Laurens Middle School (LMS) Football Field. You may not be practicing or playing games on all of these days, but these are the days provided. * The first few days of practice will be clinics working on skill development and will not be divided into teams.
* Teams and practice times will be announced Saturday, March 8th at the Laurens Middle School (LMS) Football Field at the following times:
